Heartbeat Christian News was started from a series of Godly circumstances which can be explained no other way. I personally never worked for a newspaper prior to this endeavor. The closest I ever came was being a substitute route carrier in Oregon. As a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I have a burning desire to get THE truth to as many souls as I can because the time is short. And my pastor, Brother Lee Sharpe, has long time affirmed that the printed page is still one of the most powerful forms of evangelism.
He owned the rights to HBC News and sold them to me around 2007 for $1. Huge profit right? LOL. What unofficially started there in Cottage Grove, Oregon with humble beginnings has grown into a wonderful work of the Lord. We ran a few issues in Oregon but it didn’t last because I wasn’t in the right physical proximity. So in 2012, after I had been in Tennessee for about a year, we started Heartbeat Christian News back up again. It was him and I for about the first 2 issues. 8 pages, black and white, everything being laid out by hand and I was selling ads for $10 a month. Eventually, my pastor stepped away having too many previous obligations and the rest is history.
We are now in our 12th year of publication, 16 full color pages and having published well over 175,000 copies. We have blanketed this region, been around the country and across certain parts of the world. And we have only just begun really having established a firm foundation. What makes HBC News unique? We are committed to publishing the word of God, rightly divided, from the original King James version of the bible. As well as paying tribute to ministries who are dedicated to helping others for the glory of God and the advancing of His kingdom.
Another very strong focus of our passion is winning lost souls to the Lord and helping backsliders find their way home. We support other Christian newspapers through prayer and by being a member of the Christian Newspaper Association.
Heartbeat Christian News is adamant that everyone who knows about us understands that we are independent Christian news. Meaning we are committed to helping all Christians, regardless of where they go to church or how they profess to believe. This is a verified work of the Lord with many signs, miracles and wonders and to God belongs ALL the glory. Having no experience in any aspect of the newspaper publishing business, I owe God all the praise for making me a publisher, editor, graphic designer, newspaper layout specialist, comic strip author and artist, journalist and distribution manager. It is only by His grace that I am and what I am and that this newspaper which has blessed so many and will, is what it is.
In closing, let me say that the way you will know a true preacher sent by God is that God will confirm the word he or she preaches with signs following according to the teaching in Mark chapter 16.
